Yoga Therapy
is the application of the tools and wisdom of Yoga for therapeutic purposes. It a complementary healthcare path to help us come through health or wellbeing troubles.
Yoga Therapy is highly effective and completely accessible to absolutely every body – even if you are unable to move around freely. Yoga is not about tricky postures (though sometimes tricky postures can be part of it), and uses many tools and practices to work on our various layers – the physical body, our physiology & nervous system, our emotional and mental states, and beyond.
How does Yoga Therapy work?
It works with the path and tools of yoga in a highly individualised, specific and methodical way to assess and address what’s going on for each unique person.
We work step by step to bring you symptomatic relief, then over time, with practices designed specifically for you, we improve the functional efficiency of your systems, strengthening your whole constitution so you have causative relief, and freedom from the issue.

What does a yoga therapy session involve?
First Consultation
At your consultation we will talk through what you would like yoga to help you with, and how it can fit into your life and lifestyle. I ask some simple questions and check your body and alignment to give me a whole picture of what’s best for you. I will then design your practice, and take you through it so you are confident with it. I make a handout of your practice for you to follow at home until your next session.
What should I wear?
There’s no need to wear any particular clothing, just wear something comfortable.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person and issue is unique. It usually takes about 6 sessions to come out of a problem. For Yoga Therapy I normally only accept clients who are willing to commit to at least three sessions over the course of three months. You will almost certainly feel some improvement after your first practice, but three months of working with your practices will allow for a notable and cumulative difference in your life.
As Yoga Therapy is focused on you, the frequency of your sessions will depend on you. If you have an acute condition, for example, a herniated disc, that’s inhibiting your movement and causing extreme pain, we may need the first few sessions to be a week or less apart. If it’s a more chronic condition, it will be more like 3-4 weeks between the first few sessions.
Some people like to keep on their Yoga path after they have come out of the problem they came with, many choose to continue with individualised practices from me, others move to work with other teachers or in other directions.
I’m worried I’m too unfit or inflexible for Yoga Therapy to help me?
Yoga is for absolutely everyone and whilst ”tricky” postures can be part of the path of Yoga for some people, they are neither necessary nor what Yoga is about. Your Yoga therapy practice will be tailored to you – your needs, your capabilities, your body and your lifestyle. I have worked successfully with a wide range of people with different ages, abilities, needs and confidence levels including people completely incapacitated from with pain and also those at the end of their lives who’ve used the tools of Yoga to help them in their last days.
How long does a session last and what’s the cost?
An initial consultation session is 120mins long and costs £120. Subsequent sessions are 90 minutes and cost £90 (this includes everything detailed above and support with any questions or clarifications required after the session). As above, it usually takes 6 sessions to move out of a problem and I will normally only accept new clients who commit to at least three sessions over the course of three months.
Payment options are:
6 sessions paid upfront – £520
3 sessions paid upfront – £250
Ad hoc 120 min sessions – £120
